Queen's Christmas Speech
The Royal Christmas Message (currently The Queen's Christmas Message) is an annual speech broadcast by the British Sovereign to the Commonwealth at Christmas.
A speech has been broadcast by the British Sovereign every year since 1932, with the sole exception of 1969.
The tradition of the British monarch giving a speech at Christmas began in 1932. King George V made a radio broadcast by on the BBC Empire Service.
Since 1957, the speech has been broadcast on television in the United Kingdom (and some other countries).
In Britain, the Queen's Speech is usually broadcast at 3pm (although it may be repeated later), and it is something of a national tradition to watch the Queen's Speech after eating Christmas Dinner.
